The Connecticut/Westchester Chapter of the National Investor Relations Institute (NIRI) comprises about 90 professionals from both companies and consulting firms. Most of us either work or live in Connecticut or Westchester County, New York. However, a number of us travel from northern New Jersey or Long Island, New York throughout Connecticut to be part of this vibrant and growing chapter.

Investor Relations (IR) is a strategic management responsibility that integrates the disciplines of finance, communications, marketing and securities law to enable the most effective two-way communication between a company, the financial community and other constituencies, which ultimately contributes to a company’s securities achieving fair valuation. (Adopted by the NIRI Board of Directors, March 2003)
Considered one of the top ten jobs within the publicly traded corporation, IR can have a positive impact on a company's value by shaping the way it is perceived within the capital markets, at home and overseas.
Founded in 1969, NIRI is the professional association of corporate officers and investor relations practitioners and consultants responsible for communication among corporate management, shareholders, securities analysts and other financial community constituents. With more than 3,500 members, NIRI represents 2,000 publicly held companies and $5.4 trillion in stock market capitalization. NIRI is the standard bearer for the IR profession, offering seminars and publications to advance the practice of investor relations, and meet the professional development needs of those engaged in IR.
We hold about 10 meetings a year from September through June, featuring programs on topics of professional interest to investor relations practitioners and promoting networking and information sharing among our membership. We usually hold our meetings in the evening, with meetings typically starting at 6PM and generally ending by 8PM. We occasionally hold breakfast or lunch-time meetings as well. Meeting locations vary from local restaurant venues to corporate headquarters of members located in southern Connecticut and Westchester.
Guests are always welcome at our meetings, and we encourage people from other corporate disciplines, such as finance and law, to attend.
Becoming a NIRI national and chapter member is easy. Go to Join on the NIRI National website and apply online or download a membership application. Note that a one-time application fee of $150 applies, in addition to annual membership dues.
